Behind the Scenes
Hello Mr Weindl! It’s nice that you have taken the time to tell us a few things about your career at MEGGLE so far. Today is International Youth Day and we wanted to use this as an opportunity to highlight the development of our team colleague. Can you tell us a few things about that?
After graduating from secondary school in 2018, I started my apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at MEGGLE directly afterwards. Despite a training period of three years, MEGGLE gave me the opportunity to shorten the training so that I could successfully complete my final exams six months earlier in January 2021. As MEGGLE offers its apprentices a two-year job guarantee, I have worked in sales and marketing in the Food Ingredients business unit since then.
☘️ How have you experienced your training at MEGGLE?
I always have great memories of my apprenticeship. As an apprentice industrial clerk, you go through numerous commercial departments in the company. There, you get to know all the processes and the day-to-day business in a few months at each department. In this way, the trainees always have to deal with new tasks and challenges. Above all, this model helped me to develop the understanding of cross-departmental correlations in a company of this size, which meant that I was able to enter the professional routine without any problems after completing my training. What was most valuable for my personal development, was the cooperation with so many different people and characters that I was able to get to know during the training.
☘️ Did you quickly identify the area of your specialisation and where did you place your focus?
After the 2.5 years of training, it quickly became clear to me that I would like to work in sales and marketing in the future. This area covers all my interests and this is where I can best contribute my personal strengths: Good teamwork and organisational skills, let my creativity run free and always set off with a concrete goal in mind. But what excites me most is the contact with customers. Always giving the best possible, satisfying their needs and wishes. In addition, through an internationally oriented company like MEGGLE, you get to know many different people and cultures all over the world, which is still impressive for me.
☘️ After your training, you first became part of the food ingredients sales team and then you were given responsible tasks in marketing. What motivated you to work in marketing as well?
When I was introduced to marketing during my apprenticeship, I was fascinated by how my own creativity is put into practice. Making my own ideas available later as a finished online measure and for a broad target group fascinated me from the very beginning. So I am really pleased to be working in B2B marketing at the Food Ingredients business unit. For example, I create various reports, organise sales promotion measures and support our marketing team in creating content for social media channels. I particularly enjoy planning, organising, implementing and monitoring campaigns and online publications that we regularly publish on various industry platforms. This is a very multi-faceted process every time, from which I have been able to learn a lot so far. It’s especially nice when all the work is a success in the end.
☘️ In the meantime, you have taken on more responsibility in sales. What is your day-to-day work like in Sales & Marketing?
Almost all processes in both areas overlap at certain points. This makes the coordination of B2B marketing and sales even more important. If the cooperation between sales and marketing functions optimally, existing knowledge can be bundled, processes can be improved and thus more leads and turnover can be ensured. We often speak of “smarketing” – the combination of sales and marketing. The experience I have gained so far in both areas can thus be optimally combined in the form of an intermediary function. As a sales assistant, I primarily organise and coordinate the processing of customer orders – from ordering to shipping. In addition to the customers, I work primarily with numerous internal colleagues from logistics, accounting, production, etc., and together as a team we ensure that the process runs smoothly. What’s new for me is supporting the purchase and sale of merchandise as well as the role as SAP key user for our sales department. I am very much looking forward to the new activities and further challenges at MEGGLE Food Ingredients and hope that I can continue to support the team in the best possible way.
☘️ And at the same time, you will also complete your Bachelor’s degree in Economics at night school. It looks like you are really taking off in your career. We wish you continued success and joy in our team and thank you for the great cooperation!
Sincerely yours,
Your Marketing Team of the Business Unit Food Ingredients
