Lighten up your products with EDIFETT® & MEGGLITE®
“The eye eats with you” is much more than a phrase. Because in addition to taste and smell, an appetizing appearance is without question also an important criterion for consumers when buying food products. And the color of a product has another interesting effect on us: because we subconsciously associate specific colors with certain tastes. It therefore makes a significant contribution to whether we consider a food to be appetizing and it even boosts the intensity of the taste during consumption. (1)
Excursion “Titanium Dioxide”
Manufacturers often use colorants to lighten the end product and make it seem tastier. The colorant titanium dioxide (E171) was a popular food additive for baked goods and spreads, soups and sauces, salad dressings and even food supplements. In 2021, however, titanium dioxide caused a lot of discussion and on January 14, 2022, the European Commission issued a ban on the use of the food additive. Manufacturers had 6 months to look for alternatives and continue to search for suitable suppliers of ingredients with a whitening function.
Functional fat powder with amazing whitening power
Our fat powders Edifett® and Megglite® also provide the desired effect in your end product due to their high whitening power and opaque properties! The spray-dried emulsions are based on palm or coconut oil. Therefore a very versatile use, from savory to sweet products, is possible and even a small dosage is sufficient for a high whitening power.
